Day 2 EM | The Outcasts

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

The had scarcely began to peer up, pushing away the darkness and stars for the dull gray of the start of the day. The various coastal birds began their chattering, and fishermen began to get settled on their vessels to venture for their hauls.

Among the cold, a woman jogged along the walkway next to the sand, wearing light cargo pants and a windbreaker in dull colors, topped by a tail of white hair following her steps. The only gentle highlight was the mon of the Kitsuki dangling by her hip.

Huff. Puff. Huff. Puff.

It was a meditation of it's own. No thoughts, no assessing, just her body and forwards, for once a simple state of being.

The humidity was oppressive but he had begun to get used to such things in the last few months. He started his day with his morning jog, it was little rituals like these that he had learned when he was bouncing back and helped him stay on track.

He jogged along the familiar strip of concrete overlooking the beautiful beach that he rarely visited in earnest. He wore light shorts and a loose thin tank top. His feet pounding the pavement in a steady and practiced rhythm. His breath coming in deeper but still regular intervals.

He was about to pass up a slight figure in a windbreaker. As he had been about to nod in greeting one of his laces snagged and tripped him! He tumbled next to and in front of the person but did his best to not directly hot them as he fell to the ground.

But his best efforts were not enough to keep away from the detective from trying to stop his fall as well, shooting her arms to try to hold him, failing to bear the weight and joining him into the ground in a tangle of limbs.

"Shit. Dang. Ow..." She cursed, not really in pain, but annoyed. Before following up with the actually polite thing to say. "You okay, big guy?"

They landed together in a crash and much cursing was had as they righted themselves.

He looked over to her in worry "shit, fuck, sorry. I don't know what happened there, I'm usually fine doing no brainer tasks like running."

He stood and reached down to her, offering a hand up "Yeah I'm. Good, no damage on me. I hope you are ok too."

She took the hand without worries and pulled firmly to hoist herself up, then patting off some of the sidewalk sand.

"I'm good." She replied, voice low and raspy. "Are you? Sure you didn't fall due to a sudden injury? I know how old wounds feel."

"At least if it was an old wound that caused it I would have a good excuse." He regarded her for a moment "I'm just glad you didn't get hurt, would have felt like a real ass if that happened."

He paused a little bit not one hundred percent sure where to go but gave a small bow "I am Kaiu Ryosei by the way. Would you like to get breakfast? Or run together and then get breakfast? Its the least I could do."

There was a little assessing gaze upon him, her slate eyes going up and down, until the corners of her lips raised gently, and she extended a hand.

"I am Kitsuki Ichitaiyo, and I accept your offer, Kaiu-san."

As he straightened he looked about the beach and then back to her. He was thinking it seemed. "I take it you are from off world? Visiting for the event? If you don't mind doing another couple miles there is an excellent tea house on the beach that serves some of the best onigiri in the province."

Kitsuki smiled gently. "Onigiri? At this time of the day? I'm used to stalls at this time of day offering scop. I'll be glad to try something different for a change."

"I'm about done anyways. How about you show me what's left of your routine?"

She followed at ease, without much problems despite whatever oddities the rebreather might do to her breathing.

"I was born on The Pyre, the closest the Dragon have to a normal city, but I traveled plenty, as I had to follow moves with my father along his duties. I did grow up at Pale Blossom, Kitsuki's Hand, The World of Dreams and White Mask. Only managed to stay in The Pyre once I started my schooling. And after that, well, I keep being some of a nomad. You always have lived in Green Carp?"

"The former comes from being involved in research or mystical tasks that demand extensive field experience, or supporting those tasks, latter comes when your duties peg you as a scrollsniffer."

"But I am kinda a bit of exception to those two. There not many corps in the Dragon, after all."

Her padding was careful of any turns he might take, after all, she was following.

"Sadly couldn't stay enough on the World of Dreams to explore it for fun, but the mere sights are amazing, and you can dip yourself on the joys and pleasures the gilded surface has for it's inhabitants. However, be wary that beneath all, lies one of the deepest tapestries of scum and villainry, on the competition to profit from the darkest desires of people."

"Dragon worlds... well, they tend to be very utilitarian. Mostly just exist in support of a temple or research outpost, so you either love the academic part or just end up with some underdeveloped places. The Pyre has to be more technological and metropolitan as it holds some of our centers of economy, but it is still weird that it is built atop volcanoes."

"Me? I'm an engineer. I specialize in designing custom fleshcraft but also kind of anything mechanical or electrical. Can sort of do a bit of everything."
