Tamori Kanna wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 1:51 pm Ah Taraka, our greedy little carp business-woman. :D Enjoyed reading her scenes and happy with the scene we got together!

How did Taraka feel about all these clans descending upon her home with grand plans of their own? Was she worried about competition or anything bad happening to Nakahama?
Ah Kanna, our happy go lucky literally little woman. We had two scenes together, and I enjoyed both of them :P

For the most part optimistic. Nakahama's gotten a bit run down in the past couple years, new clans means new money that hasn't gotten bored with our little slice of paradise. Hopefully y'all are bringing things that will also inspire previous seasons' tourists to return as well.

The real sticking point is the Spider. As a player, I understand their inclusion in both games and events. The team wanted a mostly chill little game with fun events, not let's throw an inquisition and take turns spitting on the Spider characters before burning them at the stake. As for Taraka IC though....she doesn't mind taking their money, it spends just as readily as a Crab coin, but letting them have access to our children at first market, access to our military training at wargames, let them actually open a store here? Governor, you got some 'splanin to do XD (The explanation being Imperial pressure to allow them access, but I swear as soon as the Crab-Spider War kicks off, we're arresting them all)

I wasn't really worried about competition until Harushi announced she was opening a drone shop on Golden Shotengai XD But given her angle, that's kind of like McDonald's being worried about a Gordon Ramsay opening up down the street Yeah, we technically sell the same stuff, but for very different needs. And Taraka is going to work to get her fingers in that pie anyways ;)

I'm not really sure how much direct competition IS coming in, because a lot of people didn't make it real clear to me what their clans were bringing. Hikari's...doing something with finances? Kitsuki-san might be a PI? Kanna had a spa on offer, but this town's big enough for two spas. Nagisa giving me push back on Senshuken's motorcycle concern caught me off guard.

Me: Hey, you run a repair shop, more machines on the road means more business for you right?
Nagisa *spits* A'int Crab built, ain't welcome. *Plays Banjo*

Ah, got handed a note of clarification. That was Hatfield Nagisa, not Kaiu Nagisa. XD

Of course, PCs DO make things worse. Y'all show up and we have two kidnappings within days of each other? I had to laugh a bit when I was talking about the tragic death to Harushi, and she was like, "Oh, yeah, it was a shame about the Moto," and I literally had to go, "Um...no the ah, other tragic death."

So overall hopeful (wiith a wary stare at the Spider)

Yasuki Taraka! You dodged your plot armour check! I'll get you next time! Neeeexxxt time!

Wow, Yasuki Taraka was quite the fixture around Nakahama! I honestly think you chose the perfect role as a local with your posting time. Thank you for contributing to the game's vibes and being one of the resident Yasuki! Had I known that you were actually trying to 'collect'em all', I might have tried to contribute! Admittedly, regardless of that, I would have wanted to throw more open scenes out there with my NPCs. I could not, alas!

In retrospect, do you think that being a visiting Spider (one of your original ideas) would have afforded you the same sort of RPing opportunities? Would he have been the ultimate tourist and gone literally everywhere? What non-FBC store did Taraka ended up gravitating to? Which for natural routine/day-to-day reasons? Which non day-to-day location did she go too many times?

I mean, I wasn't really trying to collect them all, just the closest I've ever come :) I could have been more bold in approaching Kaito at the introduction event, but after reading his profile I was just like...but I don't wanna talk to him XD I saw Nagisa, but the Moto grabbed her first and I don't like trying to add a third wheel to conversations that are zipping along just fine without one :)

Spider would not have had the same bite. When we had the Crab meeting because Iwane was all GRR, Spider! Everyone else was kind of Grr, Spider, yes yes, moving on. While it would have made for fun event posts, I don't think I would've got the rp out of iit I'd have wanted. And I've yet to meet anyone who is interested in buying what the Spider is selling from a PC standpoint. I'dve probably needed a lot more gm bandwidth to do something like "Hey, Yakumo music is legal now, let's convert the Crab youth!" Not to mention I kept playing Spider to spite Tassu and his hatred for the clan, and now he's not even here to spite. XD Look, if a gm tells me they hate a character class OR if they push a class, such as Boogie going, "Hmmm, y'know guys Crabs are pretty cool this game...." I tend to be ready to hop on. I don't wanna be the person who doesn't fit the game, I'm either here to make it zoom along or to fight against the oppression of tyranny. Hm where would he have gone? Probably Yuta records, maybe the farmlands?

I was spread so thin I couldn't gravitate XD The store I visited the most....hm, that'd actually be Jimen Tori Tea I wanted some space to do tea ceremony, and I always want to do it somewhere public so it's not just void recovery but a chance to roleplay and help others. And then it felt like a good fit for talking about the Jimen Tori. I spent a lot of time at Azuma Beach for flying carp dueling. Good open space without bothering the locals over much. IF the plans to revitalize it actually bear fruit, we'll need a new space. The Kuni Gardens got swung by a few times for the purposes of speaking to people, and I like the space's description :)

That setting can be adjusted if it’s causing problems, let your facilities manager know next time! ;)

I just wanted to say that although I was playing a character who wasn’t in to flying drones, as a player I thought the Flying Battle Carps were a stroke of genius and I was so happy they took off (rimshot noise).

Also, I am sorry RL no Oni stalled our later-game interactions. Definitely no reflection on Taraka, just a result of me being down to about three exhausted brain cells by Thanksgiving.

Taraka seemed like a pretty smooth and confident operator in a lot of ways. (Classic Yasuki courtier vibe?) Did she have any subtle quirks, dreams, or backstory twists that maybe didn’t explicitly come out in RP that you’d be willing to share?

Actually yes :)

So, because I am a filthy filthy power gamer, unworthy of respect from the real roleplayers, I wanted the Inheritance advantage, so I could get that sweet sweet extra +1k1 for commerce rolls for bid rolls. (Honestly, I think all my characters may be taking that one down the road. Luck used to the advantage recognized as best, but Sakkaku laughs at your rerolls).

But what to take for the actual item? An inherited computer didn't seem like it connected with being better at commerce. The suggestion of a copy of "How to win friends and influence people" was funny, but I didn't think consulting it whenever felt right. Generic Daikoku charm? Boring coutier fan? Motivational poster?

Then I thought about Director Ton and his mad abacus skills.

I even had a little speech in my brain for if someone asked/mocked my abacus, twisted from a movie quote I kind of remember about a reliable handgun. "No power? Still works. Dropped it in the water? Still works. No matter how good a slicer you've got on the payroll, they can steal nothing from it. And the best part? *Clacks final bead into place* I *know* these numbers are right."

Granted, I only had it out a couple times, but all it got was one cute, and Tetsu tried laying his flirty fingers on it XD

Director Ton is not the inspiration for my character, though if you wanted to play a more anti-social Yasuki, that's actually not bad. No, I had another greedy woman, with one older sister into running the house and a younger sister into fighting, and a father who cries a lot over his dead wife. If you look at my avatar, it'll come to you :D
