D2EE, Do We Call This a Date? (Expecting, but Open)

[Miya Kisha]

"Your charm does a lot," Kisha says, then covers a smile with a sip of her drink.

"But greatsharks? How 'great' are they?"

Again, she leans forward.

"I mean, if there's as much seafood coming in as seems to be, they can't be that bad, can they? Or is it an issue that they only run in some waters here, and the fisheries are in others?"

[Yasuki Kaito]

"Great enough to eat a house, they say," he said with his hands raised in front of him, as if to pretend he was either a monster or at least something with a very large set of jaws. There was a snicker as he mocked the name or the tale. "Never saw a living one, personally."

"Maybe not that large, but enough that they can take down a fishing vessel if it were either angry or hungry enough. The fishermen risk a lot when they head out there for the catches, but the catches are just worth that much. It's what keeps the island afloat most of the time. Of course, it also helps that the Crab have a long history of handling fearsome monsters, taking them down, and we've gotten better at predicting where they'll be." He shrugged.

He took a moment to flip some yakitori sticks before continuing, dusting his hands off. "Short distance fishing from land, that's an easy job. Long-haul trips on the ocean? Where the tuna are found? That's where things get a little unpredictable. You should see some of our ships, like the actual ones that go out in the ocean, not the little rinky-dink village ones. They are usually armed with firepower, just in case."

[Miya Kisha]

"I might like to see some of them," Kisha says. "Maybe I can join you on the harborfront and we can take a look?"

She takes another sip of her drink. There can't be much of it left, unless there's been a refill when neither of them was looking.

"It might be nice."

[Yasuki Kaito]

"Hey. Hey! More drinks for the lady here, make it snappy this time," he would call out to another server before wondering where their darn squid was. Still, there was enough food to keep them busy in the meantime. By this time, the yakitori was done and Kaito offered a share to Kisha before taking some of his own.

"Sure, sure. Some of them pass by the Harbourfront, but most of them really dock over at Tenjin Town. Somewhere around the seaside Uomoto Co processing plant. They make some sales over at the fish market for first dibs, then the rest just get chucked into a giant blender for fish sauce. That's the long and short of it, don't quote me." She snickered before lifting his glass to take a modest sip as he was almost done. "Actually, I'll be in charge of doing some shooting work for Fan Con. The news and variety shows want the shots for their program."

[Miya Kisha]

"A con?" Kisha says, perking up. "Do tell! Maybe I can help you with some of it."

Perhaps the drinks--and she's sipping at the next one delivered already--are beginning to get to her. Perhaps she simply remains eager with youth. Maybe something else is at work. Who knows?

[Yasuki Kaito]

Finally, the squid would arrive on the table, along with their needed refill of drink.

"Whoa, down there," he said with a held-up hand before snickering it away with a chuckle. "To be clear, we're more shooting at the Con than for the Con, if you catch my drift. But that said, I'm open to the help. We're mostly looking to do street shoots and interviews, particularly later a night when costume goers have had a few drinks and are more likely to embarrass themselves. People jump at the chance to get a little silly, a little frisky, when they're half dressed as someone else."

He picked up his new glass of beer and took a big gulp before licking his lips. "We're also going to have cameras set up all around the Harbourfront Square around Sango Station so we can catch the commotion and the big'ol showdown at the end of the night."

Taking a stick of yakitori, he bit off a piece of chicken and talked while he chewed. "You probably don't want to miss that, it's going to be great content."

[Miya Kisha]

"I'm new here, as you know," Kisha replies. "So forgive me that I don't know about the showdown. What's it about?"

But she does manage to compose herself a bit. Eating seems to help.

[Yasuki Kaito]

"Oh, shit, did I say that part out loud?" He said coyly before yanking off a piece of burnt chicken from his yakitori stick.

"Nah, don't worry too much about it. Just forget about what I said. Or not?" He shrugged. "You can always try to get a good spot around the site. Consider this tip sort of like me giving you tickets to front row seats, in a way."

"Hey! Can we get this girl another drink?" He called out to another passing server with another demand.

[Miya Kisha]

"Why, Yasuki-san," Kisha says, "I begin to think you're trying to get me drunk."

She winks and downs her drink.

"A young woman has to wonder why."

[Yasuki Kaito]

"Trying?" He looked a bit amused at that statement. "I thought you were already there, Miya-san. You're the one who's asking all sorts of silly questions here when, instead, you should be asking if we should have this squid or just get out of here. Those are much better questions, I think."

"I'm only asking because I'm the one who's potentially playing with fire here," he said as he took a big gulp of beer, his gaze not quite leaving hers even as he did so.

[Miya Kisha]

"I'd hate for good food to go to waste," Kisha says. "And I'll look forward to seeing what kind of heat you can handle."

She winks again.

"I'm sure you've got good hands for it."

[Yasuki Kaito]

"Heh, all right. You know, a person like me might know a thing or two about being burned before," he snickered on that note. "So yeah, let's kill this squid, then," he said as he started layering the grill with various chopped rings of squid.
