At the conclusion of the formal introduction and gift-giving ceremony at the governor's estates, Yasuki Kaito was more than happy to get back to the city proper to get some 'fresh air', even though that air was that of the Harbourfront at its peak nightlife hour. He sat in his Type 56 car for a majority of his drive into the city, rolling with the traffic with his window down and having a few cigarettes. The audible holographic billboards, the honking of drivers who lost their patience, and the sound of club music filled the streets to create a night song of Nakahama City.
Eventually, he would get to his destination of a spot closest to the waterfront and pull into the nearest open parking spot.
Beep, beep!
Kaito locked his car and meandered out, only pausing to notice the parking fee sign with the exorbitant amount charged by the hour. He let out a dismissive scoff and knowingly ignored it as he continued on to the boardwalk, beginning his casual stroll as he lit another cigarette.

The stench of cigarettes wasn't too akin to the sizzle from cauterized flesh. Nonetheless, Chitose wasn't particularly fond of the stimulus as she strolled on by. She kept her natural cough to a minimum, hoping to pass by unnoticed.
A Crab, however, could be exactly what she needed to navigate this place. "Excuse me, Yasuki-sama," she called out, turning around to catch up to him if need be. "Are you local to here?" The question could be interpreted in a multitude of ways, but she liked to let people jump to those conclusions themselves.

Kaito would offer the Daidoji a momentary glance at the cough as he strolled. He figured that their delicate lungs were probably unfamiliar with traditional cigarettes and most certainly not something he should feel bad about in the slightest. There was a point he could have been content to keep on walking and continue his own business, like two ships in the night.Daidoji Chitose wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 8:33 pm The stench of cigarettes wasn't too akin to the sizzle from cauterized flesh. However, it seemed this tourist (he fully assumed she wasn't a local), needed his help. There was a moment he considered hamming a Gakko Island accent and send her on his way. However, he had been cementing himself as a 'kind-of-local' so far, and she might have been at the party...
His demeanour changed from aloof to receptive, holding the cigarette between his fingers. "Good evening, Daidoji-san. Me? I'm something of a local myself. Well, a frequent visitor from the neighbouring Gakko Island, to be honest. I'm pretty much an honorary local. Is there something I can help you with?"
With one hand, he reached into his coat pocket to pull out his business card, presenting it forward.
"I'm Yasuki Kaito, executive producer for the Silver Fin Chill channel."

Re: [Day 1 - Late Evening] Free Parking (Open)
In her time, she remembered business cards falling out of fashion. There'd been too many duels over the thickness of cardstock and, most of all, watermarks. She much preferred the idea of having this information be stored digitally... Hmm, perhaps she was not as old-fashioned as she thought.
"Thank you," she said, taking it graciously and filing it away into her designated holder, organized by clan and never to be seen again. "I am not in any sort of business myself, so I have nothing to offer." Although she wondered if her modernization debriefings had failed to mention anything... Oh dear.
"Daidoji Chitose, Nikutai." She could list her old deployments, but that would hardly feel accurate. None of them knew her name, and they'd adopted and abandoned all sorts of epithets in the interim. "This sort of district is... New to me." She'd been to clubs before, but they seemed less rowdy back then. "In my travels, I've always found it better to connect to the roots of a new area. You, however, seem more like a leaf in the wind." The comparison was by no means meant as an insult, but he could take it as such.

"That's fine, Daidoji-san," he said with a nod of acceptance on the matter. It wasn't going to ruffle his scales when it came to dealing with samurai living off the planet. He was pretty sure that if she did have an important business of note, she would have one. "Pleased to meet you. I hope you've been enjoying your stay on Shiawase Island so far."
Kaito paused to take a deep drag from his cigarette, mulling over her analogy choice. He would answer when he finished and huff out some smoke. "That's a pretty good policy to have, and it's appreciated. Some people are just keen on assuming other people's homes are their home. And sure, I am a leaf but all leaves come from a tree and they have roots. Often, in the case of the roots, they interconnect when you look deep enough. Oh, I should mention that I'm also a direct cousin of the governor and her karo, so my roots are pretty connected, even if separated by a sea away."

"My accommodations have been more than adequate." Although coming from someone who slept in ice for decades, that hardly meant anything. "It's a pleasure to meet you too," she added with her practiced smile.
Chitose pursed her lips as she considered the man's expansion of her haphazard analogy. "Some like to claim that tree roots can span across entire worlds. I've never seen that myself, but I'm no botanist." She turned away from any lingering smoke, doing her best to not look too bothered. "In this instance, you are very connected here. It is more me who is the drifting petal."
Her eyes shifted to the bustling city. "I'm not sure what to make of this place. It's very loud."

"Yeah, that's probably a much better comparison," he nodded in acceptance before taking a drag from his cigarette. While he wasn't so rude as to blow smoke directly at the Crane, he just did as he normally would at any smoke stop. That was perhaps to say that he didn't exert any extra effort to shelter the Crane from his smoking. It was a bit accepted here, and considering the fact that they were in the open air, users would assume this area was generously ventilated.
"Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't do my part in helping visitors to the island as a Tango resident at the very least. The island isn't my home, but the proceedings here present the future of my province. I'm sure you've been given presentation slides and sheets summarizing the surrounding islands," he said with a sniff to withhold a snicker of disappointment. They could have done more, but it is what it is.
"...You think this place is loud?" He narrowed his eyes in confusion, almost accusingly, before looking around. It was, by definition, loud, but he found it confusing that someone would mention that. "You know, there are a few cities on the planet that are 20 times larger than Nakahama City. This place is kind of a shanty town in comparison."
