[Day 11 - Mid Evening] RP Thread: Toast to the Departed

[Bayushi Senshuken]

Mrs Robinson and Dustin Hoffman don't approve this correction!

"There's this song that I like. Perhaps we could dance to it sometime. A more sober time. Let me remember the lyrics." She acts all pensive for a couple of moments.

"Ah, yes!"

"I'm frustrated
Do you really look good naked
And I know that it ain't that holy
But Lord I need this one night only"

She hums the lyrics while smirking in her patented stupidly sexy way. "It might not fit the situation though." She states as a matter of fact and leans down to whisper to her ear. "One night only might be a very limiting timeframe."

Kisha's no Anne Bancroft, to be fair

Kisha sways and blushes. She giggles.

"Gotta start somewhere, though, right?"

She giggles again.

[Kuni Junpei]

Her eyebrows rose with surprise. "I didn't think those numbers passed through the magistrate's office." Oh no, what else did the magistrate office know? Every time she stayed up late? Or every performance she had had in the host's challenges and events? Kanna took a small sip from her square wooden cup again.

"It's no problem with bringing up the topic at all! I'm fairly sure we'll establish a branch here," she nodded with great certainty, "and one of my hopes for the future is to be posted here." There were other hopes too, but some were a bit more wild than others, not to mention too silly to entertain seriously at this point. "Is it something that caught your interest? A medi-spa?"

"They do," he admitted. "Of course, we have absolutely no say or sway in what happened with the proceeding here or else I would have given something for Kitsuki Ichitaiyo-san's efforts in my office and...well, her extracurricular activities in breaking a past case. At the very least, I will provide a letter of recommendation. My office is tasked with keeping tabs of a few things on a few things on the island. After the recent incident shed some light on the administrative workings of the office...we'll just have to double down on redundancies in the future."

"Oh? Well, I don't see that not happening if that is your wish, Tamori-san. You clearly made an impression on the governor to speak to her so casually, along with your memorable gift. And well, I'm sure I'll be happy to personally sign off the approval when your stay paperwork passes through my office," he nodded twice on that note, quite sure of himself, before taking another small sip. "Our talk at the restaurant did enlighten me on the lack of accessible spas on the island, especially when we are so close to an onsen source. If it so happens to find itself on Friendship Street, we could be very close neighbours in the near future. I'm being a bit selfish, of course, but a spa within walking distance of my office would be quite the welcomed blessing. Perhaps I could show you to a few places during our lunches?"

"Start. Finish. Repeat till one taps out." She says in a normal tone as she stands next to the bench. "It is a complex matter that requires a clear head. Perhaps Ms Miya could decide on the matter at hand after a good sleep."

[Miya Kisha]

an immodest proposal

Kisha levers herself up, not entirely steadily.

"Maybe...maybe that would be good," she says. "I could use some sleep, maybe, but I've got to get to a couple of other things. So maybe another water," she adds, looking at a server. "And a coffee if you've got one."

[Tamori Kanna]

"They do," he admitted. "Ichitaiyo-san deserves all praise and recognition for her talents, she really is amazing." Kanna was not bashful when it came to complimenting others, especially her friends, and to her Ichitaiyo had been vital in the Dragon's success on Green Carp. "I'm glad she was able to help out with matters here - she has helped me a lot too." Though Kanna tried to not think of how Ichitayo helped her and Nagisa with the kidnapping-thing.

Is... is that like being asked on a date? She felt her cheeks flush with heat and she took another sip of the sake. Maybe it was getting to her head again! "I would very much like that, yes, thank you. I've considered many different locations, but guidance from someone local is much appreciated." Kanna smiled shyly. "I mean, everyone has a different point of view, and it's good to keep those in mind for a location!"

Senshu gives her own unopened bottle of water to the woman.

"I'll call a cab for Soshi san and we could mingle?" Her eyes go to the Governor again even if it for a short moment.

"Are you looking to speak to someone specifically? For those couple of other things?"

"Thanks," Kisha says, and she downs the water. Just downs it.

When she's done and the bottle empty, the coffee arrives. She takes it with a word of thanks and sips at it before saying more to the Scorpion.

"I've actually got to go help with the parade," she says. "Lanterns on drones. Should be really pretty, honestly."

She takes another sip of coffee, makes a face. "Hot!"

"Hot!"

Senshu reaches for the cup without asking. She lifts it and blows slowly over the steaming surface. Slowly, teasingly, too much of both. Then hands it back with a smug little smile.

“Here you are, babe.”

As Senshu murmurs the words to Kisha, she takes a single, casual step back. So casual it’s practically choreographed. Her shoulder bumps lightly into Ayame, who’s mid conversation with the wise Yasuki. The jolt looks accidental, a harmless slip of balance. She pivots smoothly, lowering her head politely.

“Governor-sama. Forgive me. It was… one of those moments I forget my place.”

She also smiles to what seems to be another drunk person. "Yasuki sama. Is it... done?" She asks. Honoka will certainly know what she's talking about.

[Yasuki Honoka]

"Are you feeling a little better, Honoka-san?" She asked curiously, especially when it seemed like Honoka was feeling a bit like herself, but she didn't know her well enough to know what could be the alcohol talking. Especially, on the topic of crabs.

"Oh, much much, yes," she would nod looking to Ayame. Looking around to spot Hiroto whom was always somewhere she could see. Right now, it was a little bit like where's waldo but the man found enough of a ledge in the way things were setup that he didn't have to intrude on the conversation and could keep an eye on her regardless of how many passerby's might try to move between them. There was a little smile when she caught sight of him, he really was a surprisingly good sort wasn't he. Really rose to his position's challenge.

She also smiles to what seems to be another drunk person. "Yasuki sama. Is it... done?" She asks. Honoka will certainly know what she's talking about.

"Hmm.." she would say, not needing to change her positioning much to have to look to Senshuken who appeared, sort of at Ayame's side. There was a confusion, uncertainty, but those furrowed brows eventually unknit themselves in a widening, "Oh! No no, not done yet. Later," she would say with weight to the word. "Just speaking with Ayame-sama here, and she was taking excellent care of me as I've overdone myself," she says, and in a little show of it rises from her seat carefully but showing the hold she had on herself well. "Speaking of," she would bow quite deeply to Ayame, "Thank you for doing so, Ayame-sama."

Kisha, for her part, finds her attention wholly on the coffee.

Already, it and the water seem to be helping.

"Not quite a local, to be honest," he chuckled in his confession and smiled at her. "My prior tenure here was almost a decade ago, but there are some fixtures on the island that are still here, thankfully. More than just the Muri Donburi. I know a few places, and also potentially some prospects you consider. I mean, for both lunch and your business. It would be like discovering and rediscovering them together, a mutual favour, really.

As Senshu murmurs the words to Kisha, she takes a single, casual step back. So casual it’s practically choreographed. Ayame perked up at the bump but hardly looked offended by the bump from the Bayushi. "No offence taken here. I'm just glad you're having fun, Senshuken-san," she said with a small and earnest smile.

"I'm just glad that you're fine, Honoka-san. I think Umiko-chan would have been quite worried if anything happened," she nodded on the matter.

[Bayushi Senshuken]

Senshu watches Ayame’s polite, professionally neutral smile, and immediately the gears in her mind start clattering. She didn’t bump the governor by accident, of course not, but now she must play the delicate game of pretending she did and her brain, loyal yet entirely uncooperative, decides to run a full scale conspiracy theory about what just happened.

Clearly, her thoughts announce in a pompous, internal narrator’s voice, this was either an overwhelming display of her own terrifying attractiveness, intellect and charisma, so much that it has reduced the governor to carefully measured politeness or an egregious, scandalous failure of basic Scorpion technique. The art of successfully seducing a governor without producing actual emotional casualties to oneself. Two failures there. And why choose between two options when both could be happening simultaneously? Senshu, as always, opts for catastrophic maximalism.

Her mind races. Perhaps Ayame is thinking. 'Is she flirting? Is she scheming? Is she possibly plotting the downfall of my province or just my dinner schedule?' Then, because her brain refuses to be satisfied with merely logical extrapolation, it adds. Or maybe the sight of Senshu is causing microscopic tremors in the very fabric of courtly decorum. Perhaps the polite smile is a desperate attempt to physically anchor herself to reality while her inner Crab alarm bells ring. Or she's really indifferent to the whole situation. And Senshuken.

That last though strikes true and Senshu knows she cannot linger indefinitely in this chamber of calculated panic and subtle glamour. Her mind jumps to a thought that is entirely unrelated yet entirely urgent. The cactus at her hotel. Yes, that small, stoic green creature, reliant on her for survival, or at least for the appearance of survival, demands attention. Its silent dignity is a mirror to her own self image and she can almost hear it judging her mental theatrics from afar. The cactus cannot be disappointed. The cactus cannot wait. It must be watered!

With a bow that is at once ceremonious, theatrical and almost awkward, but not truly, because she is Senshu and awkwardness must always flirt dangerously with perfection, she inclines her head. The slightest smile plays at her lips.

“Yes, fun. I'm having that, but it's time to go. Good night, Governor sama. Yasuki sama. Miya san. I must take my leave. Urgent matters of botanical concern call me. My cactus requires immediate watering."

With that she takes her leave, but she gets only a few steps away, before turning to add something. "Good luck, Yasuki Honoka sama. I'll be rooting hard for you."

"Sounds like it will be a wonderful time," she managed to say, still smiling, though through some miracle she managed to not look too silly with her smile, "I greatly look forward to it! I can show you the locations I've found that gave me very good divination readings as auspicious places."

[Yasuki Honoka]

"I'm just glad that you're fine, Honoka-san. I think Umiko-chan would have been quite worried if anything happened," she nodded on the matter.

"I've certainly done enough to worry her recently already," she says, shaking her head. Looking over to Senshuken as she finishes her statement, but her brows already furrowing in thought a little. "After everything she deserves the break."

With that she takes her leave, but she gets only a few steps away, before turning to add something. "Good luck, Yasuki Honoka sama. I'll be rooting hard for you."

"Thank you, Bayushi-san," she says quickly to make sure it catches her ear before her hasty retreat begins to properly settle in. Which also allows a quick opportunity for Honoka to look to Ayame and say, "Do you think Bayushi-san is alright, Ayame-sama?"

[Miya Kisha]

“Yes, fun. I'm having that, but it's time to go. Good night, Governor sama. Yasuki sama. Miya san. I must take my leave. Urgent matters of botanical concern call me. My cactus requires immediate watering."

Kisha is caught mid-sip.

"Oh, of course!" she says as soon as she can, and bobs a bow.

"Don't forget Soshi-san's cab, though!"

[Yasuki Ayame]

"Yes...Well..." Ayame said at first, before she figured that Honoka would find out soon. However, she had something else she wanted to attend to and would quickly bow. "Glad, you're doing well, Honoka-san. I don't know...We'll talk later! Excuse me!"

“Yes, fun. I'm having that, but it's time to go. Good night, Governor sama. Yasuki sama. Miya san. I must take my leave. Urgent matters of botanical concern call me. My cactus requires immediate watering."

"Hey, you." Ayame would say in her slightly demanding but casual and personal way as she walked after Senshuken before she could make her get away. Unless she sped off faster than Ayame could briskly walk after her.

"Wonderful indeed, Tamori-san! We'll have to set a date or two," he would smile back at her and give two sure nods, surely leaving it up in the air with his choice of words.

Junpei raised his cup to take another sip before stopping himself when something piqued his interest. "Oh, divination readings? Auspicious places? I don't know if you've told me about your skills in divinations yet, Tamori-san. I have to admit, I don't know how I could have made the connection between your Spa to your interests here. I don't suppose it has something to do with the bodily meridian, much like the lines of fate. Hm, maybe a stretch there. What makes a place auspicious? Do they ever veer from auspicious to...suspicious?"

[Bayushi Senshuken]

"Hey, you." Ayame would say in her casual but slightly demanding way as she walked after Senshuken before she could make her get away. Unless she sped off faster than Ayame could briskly walk after her.

"The cab, yes!" Senshu only has time to exclaim before she gets hey-you'ed in that casual but undeniably demanding way.

She stops. And turns. And bows. "Hey, me! Hey, you, too." What's next, hey he, hey she... She pauses the internal dialogue since it doesn't help right now and coughs softly to clear her throat and gain a few moments that will allow her to focus.

"I am clearly very very drunk." She's not. Tipsy at best. "And I clearly lost my balance." She did not. "Today and a few days ago. Literally and figuratively. I am truly sorry. For all the unfortunate incidents I have caused." Well, technically the unfortunate incidents she has caused amount to zero, but she can make herself believable when she wants to. "For everything."
