[Day 8 - Late Afternoon] RP Thread: Shiawase Rally (Sponsored by Uomoto Co.)

Uomoto Co. had rented a lesser-known cafe to act as a viewing lounge for the Shiawase Rally! There were multiple tables and booths, as well as several wide-screen informators installed for the occasion. While they don't have the same selection of alcoholic drinks as the other company, mostly having pop and other sweet drinks, they did have some umeshu and fruit cocktails available. Only if someone asked, they were officially not supposed to serve alcohol.

But perhaps some snacks will suffice? They had all manner of candy, cookies, pastries, and a range of prepared food in an open snack bar!

[Miya Kisha]

Oh, Kisha will ask, getting something very citrusy (and shochu-based) to drink with a wink and an "I won't tell anyone if you won't."

Then she settles in to watch, looking for a few people she knows among the racers on the screens...

[Yoritomo Yakura]

Those observing will notice Yakura, wearing a racing suit that did not seem appropriate or practical at all, very slowly driving their car over to the starting line. There were bumps. Some horns. She even turned the blinker on when she remembered.

Somehow she took up 2 starting spots before one of the Unicorns took over.

[Kakita Hiroki]

Ki-kun turned up in a tight blue and silver sleeveless top, blue wave patterned sarong and an incredibly wide brimmed white sun hat. After the strings and triangles of the day before he felt somewhat overdressed.

He took a seat with a decent enough view and ordered something tall and cool.

[Miya Kisha]

Bayushi Senshuken steps onto the asphalt like it is a private stage. Her black racing suit, sleek, glossy and cut with razor sharp crimson lines, hugs her like a promise. Yes, she is going to be ridiculous today and yes, she will win! Her chosen car is a beast. Fast, loud, utterly unprotected. No armor, no talismans, no Scorpion tricks. Just horsepower and audacity. Exactly her style.

Yasuki Taraka her 'ally until further notice" is her mechanic. Just before the signal, Senshuken pauses, leans over the wheel and gently sets a single red rose on the dashboard. Then she turns to the camera with a catlike smirk and she launches!

The paved road blurs beneath her. The rural outskirts of Tenjin flash by. Rice fields, startled chickens and at least one elderly farmer shouting both encouragement and insults. Then up the winding ascent toward Jinsei Mount, the engine roars like a duel challenge.

But just as they approach the threshold of the dense jungle path.... Thud. Thud. Thump. A flat tire. Senshuken is out of the car before the dust even settles. “Partner, you’re up. I’ll help!” she declares and rolls up her sleeves.

Kisha raises her fist in the air, cheering her friends as the cameras follow them!

[Utaku Itsuka]

One of the Unicorns was soon there to remedy any geometric imprecisions in the starting spots. Her own racing suit was decidedly more focused on functionality, although it didn't leave aside style, especially paired with sunglasses as it was... which, in hindsight, make Itsuk a strong candidate to integrate a Super Sentai group... but then she probably wasn't the only one?

"Ya ready, Yoritomo-san?", the Utaku said as she approached, waving and bowing still some distance away from the door. "Get ready for a wild ride!" Her voice, stoked and enthusiastic, is almost unrecognisable today, her eyes a blazing fire.

Then she looks at the name on the back of Yakura's racing suit, and her expression immediately changes. First to a blank stare, then to anguish - which she seems to hold inside by biting her lips.

'Careful, ya nutcase!', she'd say. Maybe scold me... then spur me on and root for us .

She looks at the ground, then up, then at Yakura again. Her eyed are still burning, she beams her a smile.

"Come on, let's do this!", she says. The words are maybe a bit strained, but only a little.

[Yasuki Honoka]

Honoka was by no means someone who generally partook of this particular activity, viewing or racing. However, one of her dear friends was taking part in the racing today and she wasn't going to miss it. Ensuring she had an assortment of snacks and beverages to enjoy while she watches the race she shared a booth seat with her yojimbo. Waiting and watching eagerly to get a view of Kaiu Nagisa. Who, of course, wasn't a racer herself but was going to be the integral mechanic during and that was pretty exciting!!

Admittedly, she had spent a great deal of time just earlier with Umiko. As such, she'd neglected her work for a while already and thus couldn't neglect it further. So, amid the snacks sat her personal computer setup and hooked up to catch up on necessary tasks and emails. While maybe this was not the internet cafe or other establishment that would allow this. Honoka's blood, status, and considerable wealth meant that a lot of exceptions could be made when she made exceedingly polite requests.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

The second of the Unicorn, third of team Seahorse, arrived shortly there after. Wearing a white and purple racing suit, Suh-Hyun smiled at her two team mates. Her eyes lingered on the Utaku for a second longer, giving her clan mate a reassuring thumbs up.

"Everyone ready?" Suh-Hyun asked as she slid into the driver's seat. "Are you sure you want me at the wheel Itsuka-san?" She didn't even ask the Mantis...Suh-Hyun was familiar with both of that clan's drivers and had no desire to die today.

"And are you strapped in back there, Yakura-san? Once we start, it's full throttle all the way home!"

She paused to wave at the camera. Suh-Hyun wasn't sure what her pre-race ranking was but a little publicity for her clan wasn't a bad thing.

"Oh yeah, I'm ready. My part is the important one." She leaned out the window and smiled to the camera...perhaps she pushed her chest out a biiiit.

"Thanks for having me. I'll try and not be a major distraction back here." She suddenly reached out, her communicator in hand. "Smile girls! Time for team Horseahorse! Hashtag drivetosurvive!"

Kazushi is there, of course, cheering on Senshuken with great enthusiasm!

The reassuring thumbs up makes the smile that still seemed like a bit of an effort a moment ago come naturally. "I don't mind you driving... as long as you promise you won't make us bored", she says with a wink, the flames deep in her eyes burning brightly. "Besides, you'll need a good navigator - and Yakura-san'll be too busy with the most important part of all, ne?", she says in a humorous tone.

Leaning towards Yakura in the back seat, she gets ready for the first holoselfie of the afternoon. "Team horseahorse go!"

Her eyes do shift to Yakura's jacket again eventually - something in it definitely affected her... but she had apparently overcome it, and wasn't willing to let that spoil her fun here!

[Miya Kisha]

Shiwahime was pumped

A race! Now that's some real sport! She had made a few calls and managed to get a team together! She'd be backed by Kakita Haruhi as a mechanic for the first stretch and Kaiu Tetsu as a secondary driver and mechanic for the final stretch.

The plan was sound and she was pumped

Shiwahime started as the first driver, quite eager to put the pedal to the metal!

The coastline highway passed away in a blurr as their car ate the pavement with ferocious hunger and would soon continue it's feast through the farmland

The road there was more accidented and uneven but the Moto knew it well enough to push the engine further dodging one huge pothole by the hair of her neck!

The engine got red a bit, nothing to worry about, but it was better to make a quick stop to make repair and tune it for the second part.

The second part started good but they began lagging slightly behind the two other head cars then things took a turn

When it was time to go back in the driver'S seat, Shiwahime took stock of the engines and tested the controls. she eyed the road ahead wearily. Had she been alone she might have chanced it...but not now, not with people who trusted her behind the wheel.

''I am sorry Kakita-san, Kaiu-san...but I am calling it quits. I don't think we will make it and on my pride as a Moto I cannot chance either of your safety.'' she bowed ''I am sorry''

Shiwahime takes it on herself to forfeit

Kisha watches, and while she had been cheering her friend, when the towel is thrown in, she sits, silently, thinking.
