I have no idea what I'm doing here. But it was fun :3
Ask me anything? Or say hi?

It would have been nice to spend some more time with this particular Scorpion. What was your plan coming in to this game? What would you have liked to have done that you didn't get a chance to? And what does the future hold for Kotori?

I want to thank you for all your help, both IC and OOC, in plotting!

I hope that we get to play more games in the future!

I kept meaning to come back to do more!
Yasuki Taraka wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 2:35 am What was your plan coming in to this game?
My plan coming int othe game was to play a character inconsequential that it wouldn't matter if I had to go AWOL, but could be useful at times. So I realy went i without much of a plan, the only real plan was to not cause issues if I had to dissapear. Also becuase getting used to new people can be a bit scary haha.

I think really doing some ninja-y business. Trying to arrange things like spying on other meetings, hacking people's stuff and really being able to use it. I might have been able to chat to people OOC to get an okay, and what not but the server felt quite anti-pvp related vibes so I kinda just avoided it. I also didn't really pick up that the rumours were more than just vibes until it was too late in the thing. So I sort of feel like I just floated about without doing much more than participating in the events. ^^; But that was on me.
I think also just getting to show a little more than the public facade would have been fun, but I didn't quite make it there.

Ultimate supremacy. I kid. Ah, I could see her sticking around to help manage intelligence and information for the Scorpion as they get stuck into the place. I think that while she hates the weather, she's probably done enough through her achievements here that she'd gain recognition from her teachers, get given a mask and then tell them to fuck off out of spite and keep the veil and chill on the island for a long term working holiday.

Glad to have you as an addition to the game!

Can you tell us a bit more about who Kotori was, and why she was who she was? That was a real sentence, honest.

Did you have a favorite event?

I enjoyed seeing Kotori about. She certainly hit that vibe of "just a quiet unassuming samurai who is secretly a ninja-badass"! My favorite scene of hers was sneaking into the Temple of Light and just dancing around the security there, both human and electronic. :D Nicely done!

What did Kotori feel about her fellow Scorpions and all the shenanigans going on?

PvP is always a difficult topic, and overall the community tries not to go too deep into it (it has made things bad in the past), but I think some innocent activities like just spying or stalking could work with OOC-communication. :) I hope in the future that can be possible, without anyone feeling hurt or you feeling you can't play to your character's strengths.

Yeah, I agree with Kanna on this. Some people are surprisingly ok with pvp if you just ask first. There are even some who are TOO accommodating. "Oh, the sketchy Scorpion wants to perform knee surgery with no relevant ranks in anything on my Kuni? Cut away!"

I don't think spying would have raised any eyebrows. Seduction/manipulation falls more in to the ask first category. Some people really do not want to be seduced. Assassination is the big ask. A lot of people are going to give that a flat no...but there are some who actually like either that kind of danger or that kind of end to their story.

Never hesitate to ask for things you want, the worst you'll get is a no :)

Thank you for joining the game, and I'm glad you had fun! Especially when this was your first game in the community! I think a few people already asked some questions I had in mind.

I think PVP is a touchy subject, as a few people mentioned. In the ancient past, there were people who typically used undiscussed PVP to style on people, and that shouldn't have been fine back then, most likely not fine now. That said, it is best to discuss first. Approach tones can matter a great deal between characters, expecting it and it seemingly coming out of left field.

Uhm, was there someone Soshi Kotori wanted to do something on? Truely totally optional question.

Sorry for the slow response! Times are busy!

Kotori is pretty normal, and just your average jaded teenager. Her life was pretty normal, just with a bit of a strained relationship with her parents because she was a bit of a disappointment compared to her higher achieving siblings. That being said it wasn't like they didn't love her, or still take care of her. She didn't really suffer for it at all. Similarly, while she had a few more niche areas that she excelled, she always seemed to be lacking in some desirable area. You know, could have been born a shugenja, but wasn't. Could have been a great assassin, but is too softhearted. Could have been a great courtier, lacks social awareness. Could have been a great scout/reconnaissance/information person, lacks the perception to notice things. So she sort of just inhabited a space of mediocrity. She became a bit of a depressed and jaded kid, and a bad student. She stopped trying, and just did typical teenager things.
She eventually found her way to a different pathway within her school - which was good, but she ended up finding the image of incompetence (sometimes it was genuine, sometimes feigned) too convenient to not use. It gave her a level of freedom from the burden of expectation.

All in all her entire existence was one of mediocrity. She didn't have a tragic upbringing, so she had no real right to be as jaded as she was, or be a sob story and garner sympathy. But she also didn't have an amazing childhood.

So now she's just, figuring herself out, and what she wants.

Tsune's Shiro (?) - the game show, was honestly pretty funny, and I liked that she did unexpectedly well at it.

I think Kotori was there as a grunt, so she was very much the underling in her mind. So it was very "Yes Sir, No Sir, Three bags full Sir" type feeling for her. Also due to how busy I was, I wasn't entirely over what was happening. But I think there would have been the occasional head shake, but for the most part everything seemed fine to her.

I fear rejection XD I'd rather fail by not trying hahaha.

I certainly come from a background of collaborative RP - where consent is key, especially where there are consequences. I think the challenge (from my experience at least) is that PvP takes both sides knowingly entering a situation with the knowledge that someone would be disadvantaged by the outcome of what is a completely optional scene. Quite often the perception of fun comes from winning, as opposed to an engaging and interesting story being told. So it tends to be easier to shy away from it unless you know the other person well enough. At least that's my 2c on it XD

I mean, everyone and anyone XD. I think the answer would vary wildly if PvP type actions weren't questionable. There's so many ways that someone like her could have been impactful in terms of undermining the other clans, spying, hacking their things, monitoring their communications and plans, etc.
