Either a short drive or a lengthy stroll east from the main harbourfront is Azuma Beach, the renowned black sand beaches located at the edge of Nakahama City. The peculiar colour of the sands is made possible with the volcanic minerals and rocks from the semi-dormant Mount Nakahama. Azuma Beach offers a beautiful view made possible by the surrounding nature, contrasting with each other in many ways, from the clear blue waters, black sand, and green palm trees at the edge of the beach. The early sunrise presents the best view of the beach for pictures.
Despite the famed attraction of the beach to visitors, the beach isn't popular with many of the locals and is surprisingly sparsely populated during most of the day. Some suspect this is because the beach is reminiscent of the Shadowlands, at least the historic accounts of the Shadowlands that have been ingrained in the teachings of the Crab Clan. The beach is deemed safe, even spiritually. This fact has done nothing to favour business for the beachside stores, and many of them have shuttered, adding to the ominous reputation of the beach.
