Taraka smiled as the Dragon found her confidence.

"Very nice, Kitsuki-san. The controls aren't terribly hard to learn. It does take practice to get good at dueling an opponent, but it's a lot of fun. We've set up a leaderboard to try and encourage people to meet up, regardless of their skill rank. And we've got some very cute exclusive plushies as trophies this time around." she informed her, pleased to watch the Kitsuki gaining confidence.

"I see.. so, what are the rules of the game?" Ichitaiyo followed up, doing little loops.

"For a duel itself, it's pretty simple. Take down your opponent's banner while keeping your own." she explained.

(OOC: Opposed Agi/Piloting rolls, first to 3 takes down their opponent)

"Then as far as the league goes, the rules are pretty simply. You can duel as many times per day as you like to, wherever it is legally allowed. You can, however, only duel a given individual once per day. There's a points system, but what it boils down to is that defeating a pilot of your rank of better moves you up a rank, defeating two pilots of lesser rank moves you up a rank, and there is a small penalty for losing to pilots of lesser rank. But the penalty doesn't drop you in rank, it just might hinder your promotion if you consistently lose to lower pilots."

"Like a simplified form of Shogi ratings, right?" Ichitaiyo asked as she kept practicing and awaiting further instructions. "What are the other rules?"

Taraka nodded at the shogi comment, though the rest of the query left her somewhat stumped.

"Hmmm, nothing comes to mind explicitly, Kitsuki-san. Did you see some sort of deficiency in the rules? We have to update them from time to time when people find exploits, which is where the restriction against dueling the same person multiple times in the same day came in. Still, we try to keep things as simple and straightforward as we can. While Fantasy Fight players might enjoy pages and pages of errata to keep themselves entertained, we try to avoid being overly arcane. But suggestions are always welcome, regardless of source."

"Well, what about when a competitor decides to distract or hamper their opponent by acting upon them directly? Say, bump them with shoulders, apply 'tempting' remarks, or try to coerce them into wrong moves?" She asked genuinely, unable to not see a world where the darkness of people's hearts could not corrupt a children's game.

This netted a small shrug.

"Unlike the duels of old, there is nothing stopping you from refusing to engage in this sort of activity, Kitsuki-san. Wait, that came out wrong. No one is forcing you to compete with someone. If you go around harassing your fellow pilots, you'll soon find yourself with no one to compete with. Word tends to get out pretty fast about that kind of behavior; overall it's a good community."

She watched the coin dancing in the air.

"And it's meant to be an activity that you can do on the spur of the moment, when you've got a free moment in between shifts and happen to run into a fellow enthusiast. Having to summon an official referee to make sure that everyone is playing nicely would hamper that." she pointed out.

"Soo.. it's more of a game rather than a competition, no?" Ichitaiyo mused for clarification.

Taraka considered the Dragon's question.

"Hmmm, would it not be fair to say that all competitions are games on some level, but not all games are competitions?" she said. "One would take the position that a competition is merely a game with a prize at the end for those who perform best. We do have some really charming one of a kind plushies as our trophies for this league run, so I would think that qualifies it as a competition." she offered.

"More blood has been spilled over Shogi than you'd think." Ichitaiyo offered for thought, before she took the controls. "So.. shall we begin?"

Taraka smiled.

"Kitsuki-san, I love your enthusiasm, I truly do. But challenging me to a duel with my own drone's controls in your hands....well I appreciate the demonstration of the need for written rules at least. Why don't you swing by the shop today so they can get you set up with your own carp with it's own name, and I'll make time to test your mettle tomorrow?" she said, glad that it seemed like this Dragonfish was hooked.

And she glanced to her item in her hand, before extending it back with a apologizing bow. "I will attempt to fit it on my schedule, Yasuki-sama."
