I can answer both at the same time. The way I played Tetsu in Asakaze was as a legit romantic idealist who for a variety of reasons had the the heart matches fall apart...only for him to be immediately materially rewarded for marrying strategically to someone he liked but didn't have the strongest connection with.

So Green Carp was, to be blunt, Tetsu losing his idealism as he worked a bit flirtily with Taraka and once again getting rewarded for it. Pretty heavily rewarded for it.

So he will do his Rokugani duty and settle down on Green Carp and have a few kids, but his passion is going to be for the business and would probably be spending more time with Taraka as a "work wife"

If we want the drama in future iterations and everyone is down for session 0 agreement that could be fun

Question for my own curiosity! If Kaiu Tetsu was offered the means to get a FREE gentry outside of the game's metagame, but it totally had many criminal strings attached, would he accept?

I recognized the avatar and only now realized why. Hoshiko knows she wasn't Tetsu's first choice and she won't hold that against him. She does expect him to dance with her, though.
